Political orientations of Kyiv citizens before the elections of the city mayor

Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted representative public opinion poll of the adult population of Kyiv city during May 3-6, 2014 upon clients request. The method of computerized telephone interviews (CATI) was used to survey 1003 respondents aged 18 years old and more..

Statisticalsampleerror (withprobabilityof 0.95 andexcludingdesign-effect) doesnotexceed:
 
  • 3,1% - for indicators close to 50%,
  • 2,7% - for indicators close to 25% and 75%,
  • 2,0% - for indicators close to 12% and 88%,
  • 1,4% - for indicators close to 5% and 95%,
  • 0,7% - for indicators close to 1% and 99%.


 

  • 90% of Kyiv citizens are going to vote on the elections of Kyiv mayor on May 25, including those 79% who are undoubtedly going to attend voting points.
  • If the elections of Kyiv mayor would take place in the beginning of May, V.Klytchko would be the absolute winner gaining 40% of all Kyiv people’s votes (or 60% of those who are going to vote and made a decision about their choice). Second-fourth places far beyond the leader are shared by M. Katerynchuk (6%), V. Bondarenko (6%) and Î. Omelchenko (5%). Other candidates have lower support.
  • The poll proved that 50% of Kyiv citizens consider O. Omelchenko to be thebestmayor of the capital city. The second in this ranking is Î. Popov, named by 16% respondents. 68% of Kyiv residents consider L. Chernovetskyi to be the worst mayor.
  • The main problem of the city iseconomicimprovement (30% of Kyiv residents consider it to be the priority issue for the future mayor). Another important issues are improvementofthemedicalaidaccess(19%), eliminationofcorruption(18%), creating of job places (18%), optimization of city servicesoperations (18%), repairing of roads and construction of junctions (16%).
