Eating out of the home tendencies among the Ukrainians, February 2018

The majority of the Ukrainians continues to eat at home. Over the past month, 30% of the adult population (51% among people under 40 years, only 17% among the people aged over 40 years) consumed food that was prepared outside the home. Residents of Ukraine prefer "democratic” catering establishments. The leaders are cafe or bistro, that account for 40% of recent visits, only 9% of the population visit restaurants.

What to present to women on the march 8th ? Women-politicians: to what extent the population of Ukraine trust them?

According to the results of the poll, top 7 presents women want to receive are flowers, jewelry, romantic journey, money, care and attention, toilet water or perfume, and romantic dinner. Compared to 2017, the percentage of those women who want to receive money as a gift got bigger.

 Among those women who were in the list we asked about, the best trust-mistrust balance have O.Syroid and V.Lutkovska (the difference between them is insignificant), on the second place are O.Bogomolets and I.Herashchenko (the difference is significant but not big), on the third place – Y.Tymoshenko and N.Savchenko.

The higher is the level of acquaintance with one or another woman - the higher is the level of distrust.

New Year press release: what presents do the Ukrainians expect for the year of the earth dog

Over the past few years, on the New Year holidays` eve, KIIS conducts the survey to find out what presents are popular among the Ukrainians.

According to the survey results, the Ukrainians, as it was previously, are quite mercantile: at the first place with a big break are money, about 17% of the polled would love to receive them as a gift. Further three presents are the automobile and the accessories for it, the romantic journey, and the household appliances (from 6% to 7%).

Ukrainian society over the 25 years: dynamics of some social indices

Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) – one of the first research companies that appeared in independent Ukraine. Over the 25 years of its existence, KIIS has conducted thousands of researches and accumulated the significant amount of data. Now KIIS execute about 150 projects per year. In the following press release, we present some indices that characterize the changes that took place in the Ukrainian society over this period.

Some of the topics that are a subject of KIIS research during many years and are presented are – the level of well-being, happiness and health, geopolitical orientations of the Ukrainians, the attitude of the population of Ukraine toward Russia and vice versa, the dynamics of the Internet usage, trust to social institutions.

Dynamics of Internet usage in Ukraine: May 2017

In the spring of 2017 63% of the adult population of Ukraine were users of the Internet. The most popular is access to the Internet through a home-based stationary computer or laptop (54%), although today, 42% of the adult population in Ukraine, at least once a month, use the Internet on mobile devices (primarily on smartphones).
