Kyiv International Institute of Sociology has conducted their own poll on February 8-17, 2013. 2032 respondents were interviewed; the study covered all regions of Ukraine (including the city of Kyiv) and Crimea; sample was random and representative for the population of Ukraine aged 18 years and older.
Statistical sampling error (with a probability of 0.95 and a design-effect 1.5) does not exceed:
3.3% for index close to 50% 2.8% - index close to 25% 2.0% - index close to 10%1.4% - index close to 5%.
The annual spring KIIS survey on what gifts women want to get for the International Women Day on March 8 and whether it coincides with the plans of men, showed that the overall understanding has almost been achieved.
According to the survey, the first six gifts that women would like to get for the mentioned holiday are: flowers, care and attention, jewelry, romantic travel, eau de toilette or perfume and cosmetics, romantic dinner.

26% of women want to get flowers; 31% of men are going to give flowers as present;
-
11% of women do not expect any presents from their men except care and attention; and only 6% of men believe care and attention to be presents;
-
8% of women would like to get any jewelry as a gift; 10% of men plan to give jewelry to their women;
-
romantic trip is desired by 6% of women; 5% of men intend to give it as a gift;
-
5% of women would like to get toilet water, perfumes and cosmetics as a gift; and 6% of men plan to make such a gift;
-
romantic dinner is considered to be a nice gift for March 8th by 5% of women and 8% of men, what shows that it is more appreciated by men than by women;
-
11% of women have no anyone who could make them a gift; and 5% of men said that they had no one to make a gift for.
As you can see generally desires of women and pintentions of men coincide. There are significant differences only regarding few positions: men give flowers more often than women want (31% men vs. 26% women), the same situation is with romantic dinner (8% of men vs. 5% women). Care and attention take second place in the hierarchy of gifts: 11% of women said they considered it to be a gift, but only 6% of men shared this point of view.
When we compare results of the last survey with the data of the same survey of previous years we can clearly see:
Number of men who intend to give flowers as a gift has decreased (35% in 2011 and 31% in 2013); and number of those planning a romantic dinner on the contrary, has increased (from 4% in 2011 to 8% in 2013).
Today women want less money (from 7% in 2011 to 4% in 2013), care and attention (from 14% to 11%) and more flowers (from 19% in 2011 to 26% - in 2013).
Unfortunately, there can be observed a rise of number of men who do not have anybody to give presents to (from 3% in 2011 to 5% in 2013). Another sad fact is that number of women who do not expect gifts from anyone, has hardly decreased (10.9% in 2011, and 11.3% - in 2013, the difference is statistically insignificant).
