The nationwide telephone survey, titled “Ensuring Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men in Ukrainian Society,” was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) at the request of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in cooperation with the Office of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro Atlantic Integration and the Apparatus of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, and with the support of Sweden. The survey explored topics such as perceptions of gender equality, gender roles during wartime, gender-based discrimination, and gender-based violence. This is the second survey in the series, building on a similar study conducted in 2018. The nationally represented survey included 2,509 computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) conducted from February 27 to March 15, 2024, with a margin of error of 2.2% for the nationwide sample. The National Democratic Institute adheres to core principles of respondent data protection as outlined in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) throughout the conduct of sociological research. Analytical conclusions and interpretations by third parties do not necessarily reflect the position of NDI. NDI is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organization that works in partnership around the world to strengthen and safeguard democratic institutions, processes, norms and values to secure a better quality of life for all. NDI envisions a world where democracy and freedom prevail, with dignity for all.
