What presents do Ukrainians want to receive for the New Year
During the period from 2nd to 11th of December, 2015 Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted All–Ukrainian public opinion survey. Data were collected from 2022 respondents aged 18 and above, living in all regions of Ukraine (including Kyiv) except the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. In Luhansk region survey was conducted only on the territories controlled by Ukraine. Survey was conducted both on territories that are and that are not controlled by Ukraine in Donetsk region.. Sample is representative for the population of Ukraine aged 18 years and above.
The statistical error of selection (with probability of 0.95 and at design–effect of 1.5) does not exceed: 3.5% for indicators that are close to 50%, 2,8% – for indicators that are close to 25%, 2,0% – for indicators that are close to 10%, 1.4% – for indicators that are close to 5%.
On New Year`s holidays eve KIIS, as usual, decided to find out what presents are popular amongst Ukrainians and thus to simplify the process of choosing gifts for family and friends.
According to the results, top 5 presents Ukrainians want to receive are: money, romantic journey, automobile and accessorizes to it, household appliances, and jewelry.

As in the similar list of presents from 2014 money is the most desired gift. 13% of men (20% in 2014) and 15% of women (17% in 2014) would like to receive money for the New Year; second place in men`s list of presents is occupied by automobile and accessorizes to it – also 13% while only 1% of women want these items as a present, situation has not changed much comparing to the results of 2014.

Romantic journey is on the third place in men`s list (6% of men) and on the second place in women`s list (11% of women)

8% of men and 4% of women (6% in 2014) do not expect any gift for the New Year

Proportion of those who are not presented with a gift for the New Year has raised from 6% in 2014 to 10% in 2015amongst men and from 5% in 2014 to 8% in 2015 amongst women

By age: money as a gift is desired equally by all age groups, only age groups 50 – 59 (15%, 19% in 2014) and 60 – 69 (16%, 19% in 2014) want money slightly more than other age groups; amount of those who do not receive gifts is increasing in direct proportion to the age: 18 – 29 years old – 1%, 70+ – 21% ( it is sad how dramatically this number has increased since the last poll – it was 14% in 2014)
