The study showed that, in general, the Ukrainians regard holidays with love and respect: only 3% of respondents do not relate to any official holiday as an important or beloved one.
On February 9 –18, 2018 Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted an all-Ukrainian public opinion poll. Data were collected from 2043 respondents living in 110 settlements (PSU) in all oblasts of Ukraine (except for the AR of Crimea) with the method of personal interviewing. The sample was stochastic and is representative of the population of Ukraine aged 18 and above.
In Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts survey was conducted only in the territories that are controlled by the Ukrainian government, the sample is representative of the population of Ukraine aged 18 and above.
The statistical sampling error (with a probability of 0.95 and for a design effect of 1.5) does not exceed: 3.3% — for indexes close to 50%, 2.8% — for indexes close to 25%, 2.0% — for indexes close to 10%, 1.4% — for indexes close to 5%.
The most popular public holidays in Ukraine are:
- Easter – 82%
- Christmas– 81%
- New Year– 79%
- International Women`s Day– 45%
- Trinity– 35%
- Victory Day– 31%
- Independence Day of Ukraine– 16%
The least popular public holidays among the Ukrainians are Day of Defender of Ukraine (11%), Day of International Solidarity of Workers (9%) and Day of the Constitution (5%).
Compared to 2017. the number of those who consider International Women's Day and Victory Day their favorite holidays has decreased (from 49% to 45%, and from 37% to 31%, respectively). However, there is an increase in the number of those who consider New Year (from 76% to 79%) and the Trinity (from 29% to 35%) their favorite holidays.
Moreover:

Women respect the religious holidays and International Women's Day more than men do. That is, Christmas is loved and respected by 84% of women and 78% of men, International Women's Day – by 57% of women and 32% of men, Easter – by 85% of women and 79% of men, the Trinity – by 39% of women and 31% of men.

Men more than women show love and respect to the New Year (81% of men vs. 78% of women) and the Day of Defender of Ukraine (16% vs. 7%).

The New Year is the most popular among people with higher and secondary special education (83% and 82% respectively), and the least popular among people with primary education. Christmas is loved mostly by people with a secondary special education (84%), and it is the least loved by people with the higher education (77%). Those interviewed with elementary education are less likely than others (16% difference) to choose International Women's Day (31%). The Victory Day and the Trinity are the most popular among people with elementary education (46% and 44% respectively). Vice versa, people with primary education are less likely to love the Constitution Day of Ukraine and the Independence Day of Ukraine (2% and 10% respectively), against 8% and 26% for people with higher education. Easter is rarely chosen by respondents with higher education (78%) and more often – by people with a secondary special education (85%).
By regions:

The biggest number of those who consider religious holidays important is concentrated in the Western region (Christmas – 93%, Easter – 92%, Trinity – 62%), the smallest – in the Central region (Christmas – 76%, Easter – 76%, Trinity – 27%). In the Southern region it is 78%, 82%, 28% respectively; in the Eastern region - 78%, 77%, 16% respectively.

New Year is the most popular holiday in the Eastern (90%) region, the least popular – in the Western region (65%). The percentages for the Central and South regions are 84%, and 83% respectively.

The International Women's Day is the least popular in the Western region (27%) and has the biggest popularity in the Eastern region (60%). In the Central and South regions the percentages are 46%, and 57% respectively.

The Victory Day receives the most love and support from the residents of the South and Eastern region (45% and 52% respectively), the least – from the Western region (12%); in the Central region, this holiday is considered to be important by 29% of the polled.

Independence Day of Ukraine is the most respected in the Western region (24%), the least respected - in the Southern region (9%). In the Central region, it is considered to be an important holiday by 16% of those polled, in the East – by 14%.

Constitution Day is the least popular in the Southern region - 2%. In other regions, the indicators are somewhat higher and there are no particular differences between them: the Western region - 6%, the Central region - 6%, the Eastern region - 5%.

The Day of the Defender of Ukraine is the most loved in the Central region (14%); the smallest indicator is in the Eastern region (7%). In the Western and Southern regions, this figure is 12% and 8% respectively.
By age:

Religious holidays are almost equally loved and respected by the representatives of all age groups; the Trinity is slightly more respected by people of the retirement age (42%) than of other age, and it is the least respected by young people of age 18-39 (30%).

The New Year is more popular in the 18-39 age group (85%).

The International Women's Day is mostly popular among young people aged 18-39 (49%).

Victory Day is more important for people of the retirement age 60-70+ years (42%).

Independence Day of Ukraine is respected the most by young people (20%), the least - by people of retirement age (11%).

The Day of the defender of Ukraine is respected the most by young people (15%) and the least by people of retirement age 60-70 + years (9%).
