The activity of human rights defenders in Ukraine: September 2015

During 2015 the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) at the request of client conducted All–Ukrainian poll concerning activity of human rights defenders. Three surveys were conducted: by the method of personal interview in respondents' households; by the method of telephone interview using a computer (CATI); the survey by the method of online interview.

The opinions and views of residents of Dnipropetrovsk on renaming the city: September 2015

On the question “As you may know, there are public hearings, discussion about renaming Dnepropetrovsk. On this card are indicated the most popular options. Please tell me which of these options you would choose first?” answers of respondents were distributed as follows:

  •  90,5% chose the option Dnipropetrovsk,
  •  4,6% - Dnipro

People refuse from stationary phones even before phone tariffs increase

In spring of 2015 the percentage of mobile phone users among adult population in Ukraine was 2.3 times higher than the percentage of those who have a stationary (landline) phone: 89% of adults in Ukraine use mobile telecommunication, and only 39% use stationary phones. The percentage of stationary phone users continued to drop.

SELF-ASSESSMENT OF HEALTH BY UKRAINIAN POPULATION

In May 2015 40,5% of questioned adults rated their health as good or even very good, which twice exceeds the corresponding figure of 2001 (19.2%). Meanwhile, there is a reduction of those who negatively assesses their health: from 31.4% in the year 2001 to 17.7% in 2015.

Self-happiness (May 2015)

Despite all the problems and difficulties, the majority of Ukrainian society is optimistic. According to the results of survey conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology in May 2015, 57% of residents of Ukraine feel themselves happy, 22% feel partly happy, partly unhappy, and 17% unhappy of rather unhappy.
